California Assembly Bill 1263

We regret to inform our valued customers that, effective immediately, we will no longer be able to ship products to any address within the state of California.

This decision is necessitated by the requirements of California Assembly Bill 1263 (AB 1263), which mandates identity verification, adult signature upon delivery, and acknowledgment of acceptable use for certain firearm parts and accessories. Under the provisions of AB 1263, retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers may be subject to criminal and civil liability for non-compliance.

We sincerely appreciate your continued support and understanding during this regulatory change. Please feel free to contact our customer service team if you have any questions or require assistance with alternative shipping arrangements outside of California.

Summary

California Assembly Bill 1263 (2025-2026 Session), authored by Assemblymember Mike Gipson, is titled "Firearms: ghost guns." It was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom on October 11, 2025 (Chapter 636, Statutes of 2025) and takes effect on January 1, 2026.

Key Provisions:

  • Criminalizes aiding unlawful firearm manufacturing — Creates a new misdemeanor offense for knowingly or willfully aiding, abetting, facilitating, or causing another person to unlawfully manufacture firearms, including ghost guns, assault weapons, .50 BMG rifles, or firearms using 3D printers or CNC machines.
  • Expands restrictions on digital instructions — Broadens the definition of "digital firearm manufacturing code" to include computer-aided files for producing machineguns, large-capacity magazines, and other components. It increases liability (including civil damages and injunctive relief) for violations related to distributing or hosting such codes.
  • Imposes new sales requirements for firearm-related products — Before selling or delivering to California residents unattached firearm barrels, certain "firearm accessories" (e.g., pistol grips, folding stocks, flash suppressors, threaded barrels, and devices that increase rate of fire or aid reloading), or firearm manufacturing machines:
  • Sellers (firearm industry members, including out-of-state vendors) must provide clear notices warning that certain uses (e.g., unlicensed manufacturing) are illegal in California.
  • Age and identity verification is required.
  • Direct home deliveries need adult signature confirmation.
  • Amends the Firearm Industry Responsibility Act — Updates standards of conduct for the industry to prevent sales that could enable illegal manufacturing or harm, with potential civil liability.
  • Extends firearm prohibitions — Adds 10-year bans on firearm possession for certain misdemeanor convictions.

The bill aims to combat untraceable "ghost guns" and deceptive practices in selling parts or tools used for illegal firearm production, building on prior California gun safety laws. For the full text, see the official page on the California Legislative Information website.
